Recently, our Lead Retrofit Designer, Phil Partridge, had the opportunity to speak at the Green Futures Industry Day at Bristol Metropolitan Academy, in partnership with South Bristol Youth.
Phil introduced 15 students to the world of retrofit, highlighting how improving existing buildings can help tackle climate change, reduce carbon emissions, and cut household bills.
The students then got stuck into a hands-on activity: planning a solar installation on a housing site. They explored how to design an effective system for a single home, factoring in orientation, calculating the solar array size, and estimating output to maximise energy savings.
They were fully engaged and really enjoyed the challenge.
The Green Futures programme is doing vital work equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to explore careers in the growing green sector. We’re proud to support it and help showcase the meaningful impact green jobs can have.
