Whether you’re a homeowner wanting to reduce energy consumption, a landlord looking to make improvements to your rental properties or a housing association looking to utilise funding to update your stock with new energy-saving technologies and products, the VOR team can help with every stage of the retrofit journey.
Our team is a collective of construction experts with over 20 years of experience in commercial, technical, and operational aspects of construction and energy efficiency, with a shared vision to deliver high-quality, fully compliant retrofit solutions at scale.
What is retrofit?
On the UK’s journey to Net Zero, the demand for sustainable and energy-efficient buildings is increasing. Alongside this, we must consider how to upgrade older constructions or existing buildings to increase their energy efficiency and lower their carbon emissions, where many of the techniques were not available during initial construction. This is where retrofitting comes in.
By retrofitting, we can improve already existing buildings to become more comfortable, energy-efficient, and sustainable. Retrofits may involve incorporating new systems specifically designed for high energy efficiency and low energy consumption such as loft or wall insulation, double or triple glazing, or replacing traditional gas boilers with ground or air heat-source pumps.
Retrofit Design & Heritage Design
Our growing retrofit design team is continuously gaining expertise in the latest retrofit technologies. We are proud to have a team of experienced professionals committed to providing the highest quality services in retrofit design, fully aligned to the client, project and PAS 2035 requirements.
Our team includes heritage design specialists who focus on maintaining the unique character, form, and detailing of heritage buildings. They work closely with clients, to ensure that the retrofit solutions are sustainable and energy-efficient, but also compatible with the building’s historical fabric.
What is PAS 2035?
PAS2035 is a framework designed for energy retrofit measures in existing buildings in the UK. The government’s goal of achieving a 68% carbon reduction by 2030 includes the retrofitting of buildings.
The framework has set requirements for affordable homes, mandating a minimum of EPC C by 2030, and ECO Grant-funded refurbishment projects must fully adhere to PAS2035 standards.
Unlike traditional approaches that focus on single measures, PAS2035 introduced a holistic, whole-building retrofit approach to energy efficiency measures (EEMs). The framework includes the evaluation of existing energy demand and conditions, identifying improvement areas, designing appropriate retrofit measures, and monitoring and assessing retrofit projects.
VOR, with its team of fully qualified and experienced Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, and Designers, enables clients to achieve and exceed PAS2035 compliance. VOR is a TrustMark accredited company.
