Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator Unveiled

A new government initiative has been introduced across England to help support the decarbonisation of social housing.

The programme coined as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator (SHRA) has been designed to help social housing providers push through challenges faced by offering an information hub to try and simplify the process.

The ultimate aim of the programme is to promote access to the funding available through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF). A programme that has proven difficult for some Social Housing providers to access funding for major retrofit projects.

Funded by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, SHRA offers workshops, webinars within an in-depth knowledge hub to help Social Housing providers to gain insight into delivering an eligible successful retrofit project.

Programmes such as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator (SHRA), are vital in helping drive forward the nation’s retrofit movement. To inform and guide Social Housing providers help tackle these retrofit projects, it future-proofs housing stock, increases quality and speed of building transformations and tackle fuel poverty through energy reduction.

Here at VOR, we believe programmes such as these can be vital in supporting a net-zero society by 2050.
