We’re pleased to welcome Gianluca Ribi to the VOR team.
Originally from Switzerland, Gianluca moved to the UK seven years ago to study Architecture and Environmental Design. With a longstanding interest in the built environment and sustainability, he was drawn to a career where he could combine the two while helping to improve the quality of buildings and reduce their environmental impact.
Gianluca joins VOR with three years’ experience in the sector and a broad range of skills across environmental performance and building design. He is particularly interested in low-carbon technologies, daylight and sunlight, overheating and other factors that can improve the comfort and quality of life of building occupants, particularly those living in social housing.
Why VOR?
For Gianluca, VOR’s focus on sustainability and social housing was a natural fit, as was the opportunity to join a growing business where he can help shape the development of new services.
“The core beliefs at VOR align with my own, focusing on reducing emissions and improving the quality of life for building occupants, particularly in the social housing sector.”
His experience will also help VOR expand its capabilities, including Daylight and Sunlight Assessments, commercial environmental performance assessments and overheating analysis.
With rising construction costs, increasing environmental requirements and a growing need to improve the performance of existing buildings, Gianluca sees both challenges and opportunities ahead for the sector. He is particularly keen to contribute to work that improves the energy efficiency, comfort and long-term performance of existing homes. With an estimated 80% of the UK’s 2050 housing stock already built, increasing its efficiency is paramount to meeting our climate commitments while also improving residents’ comfort.
Outside of work
When he’s not working, Gianluca enjoys exploring Bristol and the surrounding areas, discovering new neighbourhoods and green spaces. He’s also an avid photographer and enjoys capturing what he sees on his walks and travels abroad.
We’re looking forward to seeing Gianluca bring his experience, curiosity and passion for sustainable buildings to the team.
